The Minister's main office
This space has always housed the cabinet of all the ministers who have been leading the Ministry of Agriculture over time
A giant chandelier made of fine Murano glass hangs in the center of the ceiling illuminating the fresco which represents the Roman goddess Ceres being pulled by a chariot by Giulio Umberto Vico. Unfortunately we don't know much about him. This artist was connected to the milieu of Roman decorators who were trained in the professional schools of San Michele and the Museo Artistico Industriale during that period of time. Since these artists were anonymous, they had to acheive a professional reputation. Indeed, the motifs of ribbons, frames and floral garlands with putti, designed by Vico are noteworthy.
In front of the minister's desk stands a large painting, Vanga e Latte, one of the most representative paintings by Teofilo Patini restored in 2023. Born in Abruzzo in 1840, he began by illustrating men and women in historical dress, later preferring to depict the life of peasants and proletarians from his homeland.
In the minister's studio also hangs a striking poster by Duilio Cambellotti (the same author of the stained-glass window on the grand staircase) that he created for the First National Horse Show held in Rome in 1932.
